My Approach & Modalities

When we work together, sessions are tailored to each client as a unique and multi-layered individual, drawing from the wisdom of listening presence and a blend of mind-body modalities. Sessions are grounded in mindfulness and may include somatic therapy approaches such as Internal Family Systems and Pain Reprocessing Therapy, along with hands-on techniques such as myofascial release,  Trager, and Craniosacral therapy, trigger-point therapy, and intuitive flow. Additionally, through my studies in dance and as a Qigong instructor, I incorporate the wisdom of embodied presence and movement, breath, and attuned energetic awareness.

My approach allows the body and nervous system to feel safe and welcomed to open to meaningful healing and wellbeing, celebrating the rich and subtle terrain held within the depths of our beings. By offering the space and safety of presence instead of forcing change, the tissues can unwind from the inside out. Here we invite the nervous system to open to a new way of holding the structure of the body and carrying your spirit. Here we invite a coming home to oneself.

MFR is a highly effective hands-on therapy that focuses on relieving tension and restrictions in the fascia – the connective tissue that surrounds and supports muscles, bones, and organs. This approach uses gentle, sustained pressure and stretching to release areas of tightness, improve mobility, and reduce pain. Research and clinical experience have shown that addressing the fascial system can significantly alleviate chronic pain, improve posture, and restore freedom of movement.

Having completed advanced training in the John F. Barnes approach to MFR, I bring a refined skill set to this work, tailoring each session to meet the unique needs of my clients. By working with the body in this way, MFR not only supports the natural healing processes but also helps clients experience profound release, greater ease in movement, and a deeper connection to their bodies.

Since 2021, I have had the pleasure of studying IFS and experiencing it’s profound healing potential both in myself and others. I’ve enjoyed offering a highly somatic version of this gentle, non-pathologizing psychological approach.

IFS assumes we are made up of innumerable parts that are interrelated and shaping one another in health or struggle. It also assumes all our parts have a positive intention. Fundamental to IFS is the belief that we all have access to a centered, compassionate Self. Healing happens when Self is present and in relationship with our parts.

IFS is considered experiential as well as psychospiritual for those who wish to integrate their spirituality into their therapeutic work. A belief in the divine or higher power is not necessary to benefit. It only requires an understanding that humans have a capacity to live from a centered, wise place. IFS provides an internal map for getting to that centered, wise place and from there, to growth and healing.

Along with IFS, PRT was a huge part of my healing from chronic headaches, inspiring me to complete advanced training in the approach so as to share it with others. Recent neuroscience breakthroughs show that most chronic pain results from the brain misinterpreting safe messages from the body as if they were dangerous. Research has also found that the brain has the power to generate pain even in the absence of physical damage. This is actually great news, as it means that pain can be unlearned!

Pain Reprocessing Therapy is a system of psychological techniques that retrains the brain to accurately interpret and respond to signals from the body, breaking the cycle of chronic pain. Although various treatments aim to manage pain, Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) stands apart as an evidence-based treatment to eliminate pain.

Embodied movement is the practice of listening to your body’s natural rhythms and sensations, allowing movement to arise from within rather than following external expectations. It’s a way of reconnecting with the innate wisdom of your body through intentional, mindful motion – tuning into the sensations, emotions, and stories held within, and letting them guide your movement. This practice nurtures healing, fosters self-awareness, and creates space for ease, joy, and a profound sense of wholeness. My deep studies in dance as an intuitive practice, qigong instructor training, and experience with yoga and pilates have shown me how embodied movement can be a crucial element to unlocking one’s healing capacity. In my sessions, I make space for clients to explore therapeutic movements, cultivating curiosity, compassion, and trust while integrating body and mind in a grounded, holistic way.

The Trager® Approach is a gentle, body-centered method that uses rhythmic, rocking movements and mindful touch to encourage deep relaxation and greater freedom in the body. It’s based on the idea that tension patterns held in the body can shift when we experience sensations of ease and fluidity. During a session, the practitioner gently moves and supports different parts of the body, helping the client sense new possibilities for movement and releasing deeply held restrictions. The work is deeply nurturing and helps clients access a state of restfulness and openness, often leaving them feeling lighter, more mobile, and better connected to themselves.

CST is a gentle, hands-on approach that focuses on the craniosacral system, which includes the membranes and fluid surrounding the brain and spinal cord, effecting the whole body and nervous system. By using light touch to assess and release restrictions in this system, CST helps improve the flow of cerebrospinal fluid, promoting the body’s natural ability to heal and self-regulate. This therapy is deeply relaxing and has been shown to effectively address a wide range of issues, including chronic pain, migraines, stress, and trauma-related conditions. CST works by tuning into subtle rhythms in the body, facilitating a sense of balance and calm while supporting physical and emotional well-being.

This therapeutic method involves the identification of and release of “trigger points“, a common cause of pain in the body. Trigger points often show up as painful “knots” in our muscles and can cause referred pain and/or stiffness.
